It’s time for NRB to strike it hot
WITH three wins in their last four games, Richards Bay FC go into Wednesday’s fixture against Polokwane City full of confidence.
Their come-from-behind 2-1 victory over AmaZulu last time out followed superb performances against Moroka Swallows (1-0) and Kaizer Chiefs (1-0),
The only blemish was a cheap loss to relegation certainties Cape Town Spurs (01) in a game where they held all the cards.
Mid-table Polokwane must be viewed as ripe for the picking for coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi and the NRB technical team, whose biggest problem this season has been selecting the right front runners.
I for one don’t think Khuda Myaba is the answer, and to leave Justice Figuareido warming the bench until the death is almost unfathomable.
He seems to be the one player who can make the most out of the stellar work done, game in and game out, by the mercurial Sanele Barns.
Richards Bay would have been hoping to go into Wednesday’s game only three points behind Moroka Swallows, but alas the
Dube Birds also came from behind to beat Chippa United 2-1 away on Wednesday.
It didn’t help the NRB cause that the Chilli Boys rested many of their first pick players ahead of Friday’s Nedbank Cup home semi-final against Orlando Pirates.
Still, that’s the way the ball rolls and it once again proves that one’s destiny lies in one’s own hands and you can’t rely on other clubs’ results to see you through.
To make things even tougher, the outstanding games are against top sides in the DStv Premiership.
After the Polokwane game on Wednesday the remaining fixtures are: Saturday 11
May vs Pirates (3rd), Saturday 18 May vs Cape Town City (7th) and Saturday 25 May vs Stellenbosch (2nd).
It’s going to take a monumental effort to avoid the promotion-relegation play-offs, but the boys are up for the fight.
