DE­FEND­ING women’s cham­pi­ons Em­pan­geni drilled Vets 5-1 in the sec­ond round of the Zu­l­u­land Hockey League at Grantleigh Schools on Sun­day.

The Kadenza men’s side picked up free points when Mav­er­icks for­feited their fix­ture ow­ing to a short­age of player avail­abil­ity.

The fi­nal game on the day saw the Kadenza women’s side thump Richards Bay 4-0.

Teams will be back in ac­tion on Sun­day in the third round, with Kadenza (women) and Vets kick­ing off the ac­tion at 8am.

This will be fol­lowed by a men’s fix­ture at 9.30am, when Em­pan­geni and Kadenza lock horns.

Richards Bay’s women’s squad will then look to bounce back when they take on the Univer­sity of Zu­l­u­land at 11am.

Mav­er­icks and Richards Bay (men) will do bat­tle at 12.30pm.
