Mtuba N2 hit-and-run

FAM­ILY mem­bers of a hit-and-run vic­tim pos­i­tively iden­ti­fied the man from only his leg, arm and cloth­ing af­ter his body was se­verely man­gled.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred on Satur­day night on the N2 at Mfekayi, north of Mtu­batuba.

KwaMsane po­lice, who have opened a case of cul­pa­ble homi­cide, sus­pect that the man was knocked over by a ve­hi­cle, but driven over by more ve­hi­cles through­out the night.

A com­mu­nity mem­ber told po­lice that the man lived in Shik­shela Re­serve and was men­tally ill and would walk up and down the N2 con­tin­u­ously.

Fam­ily mem­bers were tracked down and on ar­rival at the scene they were able to iden­tify him as Makhona Nx­u­malo (38).

His re­mains were taken to the Mtu­batuba mor­tu­ary.
