NRB ready to attack Ubuntu

- Dave Savides

RICHARDS Bay FC will go into their first match of the new NFD season on Sunday with all-out attack on their minds as they face Ubuntu United at the uMhlathuze Stadium at 3pm.

‘We are well prepared and this being a home match we want to start with all three points,’ said head coach Brandon Truter, who will be at the NRB helm for the first time in official competition.

‘To do that we are going to exploit the spaces and be extremely offensive-minded. ‘The exam starts on Sunday and we’re ready for it. There is no need for fear and I want my men to play with flair and enjoyment.

‘I expect nothing less than a win.’

While there will be no spectators to witness the opening fixture owing to a ban imposed on the club by the PSL Disciplinary Committee following an incident last season, there is some good news for NRB supporters.

The side’s next match, scheduled to be played away against Stellenbosch on 26 August, has been moved to the uMhlathuze Stadium because of lack of available grounds in the Cape. This means three home games in a row as the third foray, against Royal Eagles on Sunday, 2 September, will also be played in Richards Bay. They could not have wished for a more favourable start to a league campaign and must make the most of it. Email contributions to Richard Springorum at sports@zob.co.za or contact Richard on
