Gospel music for the soul in Mtunzini

- Wellington Makwakwa

LOCAL gospel musicians will share the stage during the Siyahlabelela Gospel Music Show at the Mtunzini Community Hall on Saturday, 25 August.

Spearheaded by homegrown musician, MC, actor and motivational speaker Patrick Thabiso Qwabe (42), the community musical event aims to provide a platform for local musicians, mainly from the Mtunzini area.

The huge line-up of local artists will include theatre giant Matshitshi Ngema, Hlunguhlungu, Sthembiso Gumede, Isabelo Group, Note Motion, Mlu Nxumalo and Thembeka Mathenjwa.

‘This is to provide opportunities to all the musicians in the area who rarely get to perform on stage.

‘People know me as an actor and MC, but I have a huge musical background. This is also the time for me to showcase my music, and what better place than in my hometown around people who saw me grow and supported me over the years,’ he said.

Patrick is a well-known overall artist who was bitten by the entertainment bug at a young age.

He is a member of the Zululand Gospel Choir, and has worked as a musician and actor on many projects.

This event also serves as a platform to collect food and clothes for local disadvantaged families.
