Fitness levels tested

- Richard Springorum

DURACELL fitness bunnies from local primary schools competed in the annual St Catherine’s School Supersport Challenge on Tuesday afternoon, which saw participants being pushed to the limit in the muscular strength and endurance department.

Competitors bounced around between 12 stations, completing the task at hand under the set time and collecting points for their efforts.

This year saw the athletes compete in push-ups, skipping, medicine ball lifts, rope jumps, sit-ups, slope run, netball, suicides, hockey, tennis, running and star jumps.

The aim of the event is to test muscular strength, endurance, speed, agility and hand-eye co-ordination to identify and crown the ‘fittest’ individual in Zululand.

After all the dust had settled, St Catherine’s School’s Aaryan Poorun was crowned the boys’ champion with 568 points and Felixton College’s Roxy Neumann the girls’ champion with 479 points.
