New date for Mouth 2 Mouth paddle

- Larry Bentley

OWING to unfavourable weather conditions, the Zululand Kayak Club (ZKC) made a late call last week to postpone the iconic Mouth2Mouth, 40km downwind race to Saturday, 17 November..

ZKC Surfski Officer, Wade French says, ‘The call had to be made, believe it or not, despite us Zululanders also wanting a gnarly downwind paddle.

‘However, for the safety of the paddlers, and based on opinions provided by numerous highly respected locals and safety personnel, the call was made to postpone.’

The club is eager to keep the ground swell pumping and will keep the hype going as the new date draws near.

Bell Equipment is the new main sponsor of the event and each paddler will receive a race garment.

French says the ZKC hopes to have the class that the Durban paddlers bring to the event and are looking forward to hosting another successful, ‘proper’ surfski race.
