City empowers schools with digital printers

- Wellington Makwakwa

‘EDUCATION is the key to a better future, and it must be made a priority,’

City of uMhlathuze Speaker Cllr Silondile Mkhize emphasised this significant fact when she handed over digital printers to six schools at eSikhaleni H2 New Community Hall on Thursday afternoon.

The programme was part of Mkhize’s initiative to empower schools within the city.

‘We want our schools to have the necessary equipment to ensure better education for our children.

‘We normally look at matric results and somehow have comments on them but without getting involved in ensuring children get everything they need to equip themselves.

‘Our children need to compete with the best schools from all over the world. But if they don’t have proper structures, that dream will remain a dream,’ said Mkhize.

Schools that received digital empowerment are Iniwe, Qhakaza, Ngweni, Exhaphozini, Amangwe and Maqhamu.

As part of the initiative were local leaders and City’s municipal manager Dr Nhlahla Sibeko.
