New Oddball champs
THE 7th edition of the Zululand Oddball Olympics not only saw a new champion being crowned, but also saw only 0.4 points separate the top two teams.
Defending champions Leaf Warriors, who bagged the crown in 2016 and 2017, had to settle for fourth place after scoring 180 points, as the competition this year stepped up a couple of notches.
The I-Lumo-Nators team lived up to their name and ‘e-limi-nated’ all competition to take their first title on debut with 190.9 points.
The team had a good day out on the course, setting the highest scores in the majority of the games.
But their win did not come easily, as the second placed Saints team were hot on their heels with 190.5 points.
This year saw 17 teams coming out and taking on 14 challenging games that tested logic, wit, muscular strength, endurance and team work.
The popular Wooden Spoon award went to the Hobo’s team who not only finished last on the standings, but were also the only team to not reach triple figures after scoring 91 points.
Best Dressed award went to The Folly Wally’s, with the Best Team Spirit award going to Fosprops Reccies.
Fun was had by all on the day and teams left sunburnt, sore and voiceless after enjoying what the event had to offer.
