Kyle raring to go

- Richard Springorum

ZULULAND born and raised seamer Kyle Abbott will play a crucial role in the Durban Heat’s bowling line-up for the upcoming Mzansi Super League, a challenge that the seasoned campaigner is relishing.

The tournament gets under way for the Heat when they take on Cape Town Blitz at Kingsmead on Sunday, 18 November and sees a number of the country’s best players included in the squad.

Abbott is no stranger to Kingsmead, as the bulk of his career was spent at the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, so his experience and knowledge of the wicket will be key for his side.

Abbott’s memories at this ground include winning a semifinal with the Dolphins in the

T20 competition, hitting the winning runs in an international

T20 against Australia and playing in a Boxing Day test against England.

The Kearsney College old boy has been spending a lot of his time playing in the United Kingdom for Hampshire and has been involved in a number of T20 tournaments around the world, so his side will be looking to draw on his form.
