Daring dachshunds dabble with death

Zululand Observer - Weekender - - ZO NEWS - Dave Savides

WHEN a highly toxic Forest cobra trespassed on their owners’ property, two brave dachshunds had no hesitation in attacking it.

One even managed to get in a quick bite before both were removed for their own safety.

‘This is the most poisonous of all the cobra family, being both neuro- and cytotoxic’ said renowned snake catcher Fred Lubbe, who was called in to remove the reptile at the Arboretum home on Wednesday morning.

‘They can reach well over two metres in length.

This one was just over 1.5m and in excellent condition.

‘There’s no doubt it posed a deadly threat to the two dogs.’

The intruder was to be released at a safe place after its capture.
