THE family of murdered University of Zululand student Sibusiso Dubazana (19), who was stabbed to death last October, has demanded justice for his murder.

This after a suspect was arrested by Mtunzini SAPS. but was released because of lack of evidence.

Dubazana’s family argued that it was not true that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the accused, after an eyewitness submitted a statement to the police.

Siyanda Dubazana said his brother was stabbed once in the chest after separating two fighting students.

‘Sibusiso’s friend said after separating them, the suspect went to his room to fetch a knife and stabbed my brother without saying a word.

‘We feel that the police have failed us in this case. We are traumatised about these developments. Mtunzini SAPS has also failed to update us on the latest developments.’

King Cetshwayo Police Cluster spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, confirmed that the murder case was provisionally withdrawn at Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court owing to insufficient evidence.

‘Our investigation is still under way, and if we find more evidence the suspect will be re-arrested,’ said Mdlalose.
