Amangwe stationery drive in full swing
SUPPORT a school child this back-toschool season by donating an item or two of stationery and depositing it in the collection box at Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre.
Amangwe Village has teamed up with Boardwalk to drive this campaign, which is running until month-end. Collection boxes have been placed on the mall’s upper level outside Woolworths and on the lower level outside Boardmans. ‘For many children in our area going back to school is problematic as they are in dire need of stationery to begin the new school year,’ said Amangwe Village Manager Erna Steynberg.
‘The stationery will be distributed to children from Grade R to Grade 12 who are in foster care, orphaned and vulnerable, children whose parents are too sick to work to earn an income, support groups for children and children in child-headed households.’
This weekend Amangwe Village representatives, along with teenagers from the Amangwe girls’ and boys’ clubs, will be at the mall to meet with those donating stationery.
Amangwe Village is a non-profit organisation operating within the Mfolozi Municipality (KwaMbonambi), implementing programmes that build capacity of individuals to become selfreliant and independent.
Its services focus on early childhood development, home-based care for patients and their families in the community, women empowerment, food security by training community members to grow their own food gardens, and services to orphaned and vulnerable children.
These services include a life skills club for boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 17.
