Bowlers work their magic

- Richard Springorum

DESPITE impressive career best figures of 6/18 in 5 overs from Felixton bowler Mohammed Hoosen, opponents uMfolozi still picked up a 29 run victory over the home side in a first division Saturday 24 Over League game played in Felixton on Saturday.

uMfolozi won the toss and elected to bat first on a tricky pitch that produced variable bounce and heavy seam movement.

The visitors were restricted to only 98 runs thanks to Hoosen’s golden arm.

Opener Dylan Ellison top scored with 38 and was helped at the other end by Ronald Harrison who collected 24 runs.

Spinner Mohammed Taqvi worked well in tandem with Hoosen, ending with figures of 3/20 in 4.5 overs.

What seemed to be a comfortable run chase run quickly turned pear shaped, however.

With uMfolozi’s veteran bowler Errol Boulé (4/20 in 6) and Matthew Kirkwood (3/25 in 6) working some magic of their own, Felixton’s batsmen were in sixes and sevens.

Only Dylan Bond (11) and Owen Reddy (10) posted double figures as Felixton were bundled out for a paltry 69.
