Pavement pounders rewarded for top performanc­es

UMHLATHUZE Athletics Club athletes, office bearers and sponsors gathered at the Addison Park clubhouse on Tuesday evening for a presentati­on and financial handovers to runners who not only represent the club at provincial and national level, but to runners in the Runners Assistance Programme as well.

Nomcebo Mthethwa and Yvonne Irmscher were rewarded with R1 500 each for representi­ng the local club at provincial and national level.

Seven runners who are currently part of the Runners Assistance Programme were handed vouchers of R1 750 each to aid them in the sport.

Sponsor representa­tives from Tronox and Leomat attended the ceremony.

These two sponsors are the main sponsors of two races on the club calendar.
