NRB look to extinguish the stars

- Dave Savides

DENIED victory only by a last minute penalty save by log leaders Highlands Park on Sunday, Richards Bay FC return to their uMhlathuze Stadium stomping ground on Saturday full of confidence.

They came close to achieving the upset we predicted and the 0-0 score proved they can compete with the best.

It was by all accounts a humdinger of a game, with NRB shading it and unlucky to not come back with all three points.

But the upward performance trend continues and Cape Town All Stars can expect little mercy on Saturday.

With the second half of the season well underway and just 11 matches left on the 2017/2018 NFD fixtures calendar, every game must be treated as a cup final to ensure Richards Bay are not pulled into any kind of relegation battle at the end.

Fans can expect super action at the uMhlathuze Stadium on Saturday, where nothing less than three points will do.

Head coach Jean Losciuto is making tremendous progress with his squad – what a pity he was not here from the start of the season.

He needs this year to stabilise the side and impose his coaching philosophy on the boys, so that next season can be one of a realistic challenge for promotion.

Until then, we take it one game – and hopefully one win – at a time.
