Leaity and Ferreira meet for shoot-out

- Roger Lavoipierre

WITH the Bowling Club’s PSG two bowl trips tournament having reached the halfway stage, only two teams remain with an unblemished record.

Dion Leaity has maintained his number one spot by virtue of a 13-9 win over Team Roly, and Miskiet Ferreira and family have moved into second place after beating Richard Allan and his FNB team by 12 shots.

Leaity and Ferreira meet today (Thursday) in a top-ofthe-table clash and the losers could then be overtaken by any one of ten teams in the chasing pack who are a mere two points behind the leaders.

At the bottom end of the log, Hills Howard 1 registered their first win when they beat workmates Hills Howard 2, which had the effect of relegating them to the tail gunners spot.

Three teams are yet to break their duck and competition at this end should be just as fierce as at the top.

The session prize, sponsored by Empangeni Engineering, was won by Les Dalais’ Alligators, who beat the Mixed Emotions team 25-1.

I am not sure if our district’s bowlers are accustomed to girding their loins, but if not, this weekend may be a good time to start.

They will be involved in the annual quadrangular tournament, which is being played at Port Natal and they will be up against some tough opposition in the shape of Kingfisher, Natal Inland and the hosts, Port Natal.

We wish them good bowling and a modicum of luck.
