The amazing power of positive thinking

- Tamlyn Jolly

TO celebrate Women’s Day, Bell Equipment treated more than 400 of its female employees to a motivational talk by Bell Coastal Region Sales Manager, Twan Bell.

‘People are my passion, and if one person takes away something from here that will change her life in a positive way, then I’m happy,’ said Twan.

Who best to motivate women than one who has gone through a series of ups and downs in life, and not only lived through them, but emerged stronger and a better person than before.

‘People are responsible for their own feelings, behaviour and actions, and can choose to either live a negative life or a positive life.

‘There is no quick fix, but it is a choice.’ Twan said when people have negative thoughts, they have a negative outlook and start forming bad habits.

‘When we change our mindsets, our personalities and habits start changing for the better.’

Twan’s motivational session included making the women aware of how not only their words, but their tone and physiology (body language) affects communication.

‘How you are feeling is your biggest success factor in life.

‘Your life is a reflection of your thoughts, and positive motivation must be maintained every day.

‘Rather than get caught up in what we are owed, we must start better managing our lives and ourselves, and challenging our thoughts.’

Twan gave the women tips on changing their lives for the better, and ended the session with each one blowing a balloon, imagining they were filling it with just one of their frustrations, and then letting the air out.

‘None of us is exempt from trauma, but it is how we learn from it and manage it that really counts.

‘Heartfelt gratitude is the most amazing game changer because life is not that bad when you focus on what you’re grateful for.’

She said women should practice moving forward into who they need to be, not according to others, and that they must also practice self-respect, self-worth and selflove.
