Young local scientists excel at Eskom expo in Johannesburg

THREE Arboretum Primary School learners have won gold medals in their respective categories at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair (ISF) in Johannesburg earlier this month.

During the intense four-day event, more than 500 projects were judged in various categories and divided into junior (Grades 6-9) and senior (Grades

10-12) levels.

K Buitendag said the school was extremely proud and congratulated the learners on their outstanding achievements.

‘Our learners Taqwa Sabjee, Ruan Buitendag and Johannes Swanepoel received gold medals, while Yashya Govender, Ayesha Desai and Zander Coetzer achieved silver status.

For his outstanding project on ‘future farming’, Sabjee also received a special award from the South African Soil Association for the best soil science project.
