Make home advantage count

- Dave Savides

HAVING not secured a single point on the road, and undefeated at their uMhlathuze Stadium fortress, Richards Bay FC will have to be at their very best to retain their home record against uThongathi on Sunday.

The KZN near neighbours are a formidable side and are playing good football at the moment – but so are the Richards Bay boys, who on their day can topple any opposition.

In NRB’s favour is the fact that the Cane Cutters will be without their top goal scorer, who was red carded against Jomo Cosmos last time out.

But they need to be masters of their own destiny: keeping a clean sheet at the back and making the most of the plentiful opportunities they will surely create.

Fans will also be keeping an eye out on the work rate of the home side, some of whom are inconsistent in terms of effort.

Coach Brandon Truter will not be slow to make substitutions in that regard, as one who demands total commitment.

He will also want them to guard against the sloppy errors and lapses in concentration, which this season has cost goals.

Truter and his technical team will be hoping the fans arrive in great numbers, as they did in their televised last game when they gave Ajax Cape Town a thorough cleaning.

Kick-off is at 3pm.
