‘The Diamond’ looking to better fight record against DRC champ

- Richard Springorum

MARTIN ‘The Diamond’ de Beer will be tested when he comes up against Democratic Republic of Congo’s Fafa ‘Kilo Ya Mombele’ Dwama in a bantamweight bout scheduled at EFC 75 at Grand West Casino in Cape Town on 3 November.

Dwama does not have as much experience as De Beer on the pro-circuit, but boasts a fight record of two wins and one loss. The 26-yearold who fights out of Cape Town under trainer Fidaah Edries specialises in judo and is known for his extreme strength.

But nothing beats experience and De Beer is packing plenty of that.

His recent win over Yusuf Hassan at EFC 70 shifted his fight record to seven wins and four loses.

De Beer beat Hassan with a rear naked choke and proved that he is just as good on the ground as he is on his feet.

The local lad will head into the fight looking for a victory to better his fight record and up his chances for a title shot. ‘Martin is looking good and has been working really hard with his training crew in Durban and is positive ahead of his fight,’ said dad Tienie de Beer.
