Great start for KZN Coastals

- Richard Springorum

THE KZN Coastal cricket side got their 2018/2019 season off to a winning start by beating North West by 12 runs (DuckworthLewis method) at Olympia Park in Rustenburg on Saturday in a Rural Cricket South Africa league fixture.

Coastals won the toss and elected to have a crack with the willow first.

The decision proved to be a good one, as Morné Bishop (50) and Ashley Lombard (57 not out) recorded half tons to boost their side’s tally to 216/7 in their 50 overs.

Further contributions came from Neill Jordan who smashed 26 and Zakhele Ntuli who notched up 22.

North West were restricted to 101/3 after 30 overs before the rain came down.

Ruan Janse van Rensburg (1/17 in 8), Alveiro Nadasen (1/9 in 2) and Sandiso Mkhize (1/40 in 7) all picked up a wicket before play was called off.

KZN Coastals will travel to Secunda on Saturday, 3 November to take on Mpumalanga at the Sasol Recreational Club for their next assignment.
