BUILT ON A GOOD REPUTATION

-

Amodern guardhouse that greets you as you enter the newly revamped Downstream Aluminium Centre for Technology (DACT) in Richards Bay, is the proud work of DACT incubatee STM Corporation.

This work of art bears testimony to the value that the directors of STM Corporation place on making a good first impression.

‘We believe in doing it right the first time,’ enthused Quality Manager and one of the directors Mduduzi Nzimande.

‘Our products carry the name and reputation of our company. We believe that our products must be of such excellent quality that the work speaks for itself.

‘We pride ourselves on adding creativity to our work process, ensuring we stay ahead in our industry.’

STM Corporation has four directors: Executive Director Siyabonga Tshabalala, Operations Manager Mxolisi Ndlovu, Quality Manager Mduduzi Nzimande and Safety Manager Thabani Mthembu.

These four friends met while studying at university, all equally driven to achieve success.

Sharing a similar background and passion for engineering, the foursome quickly realised that they could merge their talents to run their own engineering company.

They decided to quit their day jobs and put all their focus on building up STM Corporation, a Richards Bay-based company that specialises in engineering solutions, steel manufacturing and fabrication.

In 2016, they approached DACT for assistance – a move that has seen their company go the distance.

‘We are extremely grateful towards DACT for the support and insight it has provided us.

‘DACT assisted us with facilities to get our first contract started.

‘In the beginning we did not have our own machinery or workshop, but with DACT’s assistance in growing the company, we were later able to purchase our own machinery.

‘Their training courses have also helped us a lot in teaching us the ropes of running one’s own company. Thanks to DACT, we are now more focused on the operational side of things.’

Today there are seven people in the employ of STM Corporation.

It is part of their vision to become a company that is sustainable, providing skills and adequate training for their employees so as to instil this knowledge upon others.

‘We want to take STM globally,’ they confidently say.
