How it all started- Lifeline Zuland Centre
The LifeLine Zululand centre was established in 1987 and its areas of operations include the district municipalities of uMkhanyakude, Zululand and King Cetshwayo. The centre currently employs 38 staff (full and part-time) and manages approximately 20 volunteers across the King Cetshwayo area. Service points are based at:
• Richards Bay main centre - a house sponsored by Operation Jumpstart Association
• Thuthuzela Care Centre - a trauma/rape crisis centre at Ngwelezana Hospital
• 24-hour service - LifeLine provides psycho-social support
• SAPS victim friendly facilities - Empangeni, Richards Bay, eSikhaleni, Melmoth, Nkandla, KwaMbonambi, Mtunzini, Ntambanana: Mambuka, Bhucanana, Nkandla, Ekhombe, Mtubatuba and KwaMsane. In KZN there are LifeLine Centres in Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Zululand.
