‘Black magic’ blamed for court case postponement

TWO Crime Intelligent Detectives from Mtunzini SAPS have blamed ‘sangoma’s black magic’ for the postponement of murder and armed robbery cases against three accused.

The trial of Sibonga Qwabe (34), Msawenkosi Nsele (31) and Sithembiso Mnguni (35), all from Nsiwa Reserve outside Mtunzini, was scheduled to be heard at Mtunzini High Court on Monday.

The three are accused of killing Malawian national, Moosa Saidi (31) during a business robbery with aggravating circumstances which took place in 2016.

According to a source working closely with Captain PJ Botes and Sergeant MP Nxele, when the three suspects entered the dock, a traditional healer was heard blowing a whistle in the court premises.

‘When the healer entered the courtroom, Judge Ramos adjourned the matter until 10 June 2019. The three were arrested in March last year following an intensive police investigation.

‘The officers were frustrated about the adjournment, pointing fingers at the sangoma, as the case has now been postponed more than five times, without any valid reason.

‘These two officers are concerned about the death threats directed at the state witnesses, fearing that they might be silenced before the trial resumes next year,’ he said.

‘However, the court said the matter was put on hold to have enough time to sentence Eshowe rapist Mzwandile Nxumalo (35) who was found guilty on five rape counts and of being in possession of stolen property , ‘said the source.

Nxumalo, a former taxi driver, was given three life sentences for rape and five years imprisonment on the latter charge.
