Reaching new heights

VELDENVLEI Primary School’s Kayleigh Naude (13) has literally leaped to new heights this year, achieving superbly at high jump and setting her sights on the 2020 Olympic Games.

The talented athlete broke her school’s high jump record that had stood for 20 years, when clearing 1.51m (1.43m old record).

She was awarded the Swimmer and Athlete of the Year trophies at her school’s prize giving ceremony and bagged the Senior Victrix Ludorum for swimming this year.

Kayleigh scooped gold at the following events for U13 high jump this year: SASSA KZN Primary Schools competitio­n, KZNCSSA, SACSSA Invitation­al, SACSSA Nationals and KZNA Sub Youth.

Her latest achievemen­t includes selection for the SA Christian School’s team that will compete at ASA on 24 November.
