Body of unidentified male recovered in dam

A SEVERELY decomposed body of an unknown man, believed to be about 25-years-old, was recovered at a dam in Gingindlovu on Tuesday afternoon

According to King Cetshwayo Cluster Police spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, police were informed about the body by an induna.

‘A local cattle herder initially saw something suspicious floating on the surface of the dam.

‘Upon further inspection he identified it as a body and informed the induna, who then contacted police.

‘Empangeni K9 Search and Rescue and police divers were deployed to the scene to help recover the body.’

Mdlalose said the body is that of an African male.

‘At this stage the body has been sent for a post mortem to determine the cause of death.

‘According to our members, it was severely decomposed but had no immediate visible injuries upon recovery.

‘An inquest docket has been opened and will be investigated,’ said Mdlalose.
