Two brothers given 18 years jail time for raping sister
TWO brothers of Cholwane area outside Nkandla were convicted by Nkandla Regional Court on last Thursday, for raping their own biological sister at their homestead.
The two accused, both aged 23, were sentenced to 18 years jail imprisonment each.
The Regional Court heard that in January last year, the accused escorted their sister into the room and raped her.
The two were caught redhanded by one of their family members who rescued the victim from her brothers.
A case of rape was opened at Nkandla Police Station, and the docket was transferred to Eshowe FCS for further investigation.
The accused fled from their home shortly after the incident and one of them was arrested in Mandeni in the same month, and the second suspect was arrested in Gauteng in February this year.
They made several appearances at Nkandla Magistrate’s Court and were denied bail until Monday, when Nkandla Regional Court sent them to jail for 18 years imprisonment each.
