SACP intensify anticorruption campaign
THE South African Communist Party (SACP) in KZN has vowed to intensify its anti-corruption campaign in line with President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call for renewal and rebuild.
Addressing a Red October Campaign Rally held at Goyintethe Reserve in Ward 8 under uMfolozi Municipality, SACP’s PEC member Sifiso Gwala said corruption remained the biggest threat to South Africa’s prosperity.
‘We will only taste freedom when corruption is rooted out from our society, both in the public and the private sectors.
‘We are here in a rural area to make a confirmation that, we are indeed biased towards the working class and the poor.
‘We are also here to ensure that our communities are being provided with basic services such as clean water, electricity, housing and roads from the local government sphere.
‘We are doing this to avoid a situation where our communities, out of the blue, embark on a service delivery protest, for the failure of our government to deliver on its promises,’ he said.
The rally was also used to remember the late struggle icon Eric ‘Stalin’ Mtshali, who was a dedicated communist.
Riot Makomanisi Mkhwanazi District Secretary David Chonco said the visit to Goyintethe was part of their campaign to reach out to all communities within the district. He stressed that this was not electioneering.
