Recognising local movers and shakers
They say it’s better to recognise persons while they are still alive than after they have passed.
Homegrown dancer Jonty Stander is doing just that through the upcoming 035 Awards next month.
The second annual awards ceremony will be held at Empangeni Civic Centre on Saturday, 1 December.
The aim is to recognise the region’s movers and shakers in various fields.
This community initiative is headed by entertainer Stander of SA’s Got Talent fame.
‘After the first awards ceremony last year, we saw the impact it had in the region and wanted to continue recognising our local talent and people making waves in our area.
‘The idea came because I could see a lack of recognition for my fellow entertainers who are hustling to get to the top.
‘This region has too much talent which remains unrecognised, so these awards serve as a platform to showcase that we can compete with the best in the country.
‘For years, regional artists have voiced their dissatisfaction at not receiving any recognition or platforms to showcase their craft,’ said Jonty.
Since news of the awards became known, the social media has been buzzing from Zululanders who believe the awards bring a positive impact to the region.
The event will also feature local beauties who will be gunning for the Miss 035 beauty title, while live performances by Stander, Noid Supremo, Young Scar, Kris Karma, Diba Shortsteiger, Hurricanez and a huge line-up of local artists will ensure a top class event.
It will also include a fashion show from various designers such as RudegangSA, RARE, Pure Race, Headline, El Dambie, Gotta Be Rich, Triple C and many more. The event will begin at 2pm.
