A CO-OPERATIVE initiative to promote the Mangcengce area under the uBuka Traditional Authority as a tourism destination, is showing positive signs of bearing fruit.

Vuna Okutshalile Co-operative CEO, Jacob Biyela, said former Ntambanana Municipality employees integrated into the uMhlathuze Municipality following the new demarcation, used the location for their year-end function last weekend, which served as a good example of what can be achieved.

‘This shows that the efforts of the Zululand Yacht Club and uMhlathuze Tourism Organisation will soon create a major economic boost to our people by creating job opportunities.

‘Zululand Yacht Club is our backbone as it brings visitors from various countries to this area.

‘It also plays a great role in promoting water sport activities here as we have the Crocodile Dam, which is a strong tourist attraction,’ Biyela said.

He expressed his gratitude to traditional leaders such as iNkosi Phiwayinkosi Biyela, who gave them permission the go ahead and use the area as a tourist facility.

‘Local iNduna Moses Sikhakhane has been instrumental in all our processes.’

Biyela said the facility further provides opportunities for local talent who entertain visitors.
