Co-operative tourism initiative gains ground
A CO-OPERATIVE initiative to promote the Mangcengce area under the uBuka Traditional Authority as a tourism destination, is showing positive signs of bearing fruit.
Vuna Okutshalile Co-operative CEO, Jacob Biyela, said former Ntambanana Municipality employees integrated into the uMhlathuze Municipality following the new demarcation, used the location for their year-end function last weekend, which served as a good example of what can be achieved.
‘This shows that the efforts of the Zululand Yacht Club and uMhlathuze Tourism Organisation will soon create a major economic boost to our people by creating job opportunities.
‘Zululand Yacht Club is our backbone as it brings visitors from various countries to this area.
‘It also plays a great role in promoting water sport activities here as we have the Crocodile Dam, which is a strong tourist attraction,’ Biyela said.
He expressed his gratitude to traditional leaders such as iNkosi Phiwayinkosi Biyela, who gave them permission the go ahead and use the area as a tourist facility.
‘Local iNduna Moses Sikhakhane has been instrumental in all our processes.’
Biyela said the facility further provides opportunities for local talent who entertain visitors.
