Fun at the dog walk fund-raiser

- Tamlyn Jolly

SATURDAY’S inaugural 3K9 dog parade, organised by Magic Moments, was a heap of fun for those who attended, but the adverse weather conditions led to a lower than expected turnout.

The Zululand Kayak Club served as the beginning and end of the 3km fun walk which traversed dirt roads and forest single tracks.

A doggy water table was stationed at the halfway mark, where the furry participants enjoyed some water and nibbles.

Prizes were awarded to the cutest dog, the oldest dog, and dog bowl spot prizes were handed out randomly.

As the walk was a fund-raiser for Richards Bay-based animal NPOs, entrants had the option of bringing along their dog – or a friend’s dog – to join in.

From a 12-year-old sausage dog which ended up winning the prize for the oldest entry, to a pug in a tutu which won the ‘cutest dog’ prize, the dogs certainly had a good outing

The next 3K9 event is scheduled for 5 October.
