Save date for SANCA walk

- Tamlyn Jolly

THE SANCA/ Eyethu Bay Watch Walk Away from Drugs is almost upon us.

What better way to start off spring than a fun 5km walk with your friends and family.

So, set aside 7 September to put on your walking/running shoes and join in this fun walk, which is open to the whole family.

The 5km walk will begin and end at the Zululand Multi Sport Club, and promises to be a whole lot of fun, but also educational.

The aim of this annual walk, now in its 13th year, is to bring children to the realisation that toying with drugs could lead to substance abuse, which in turn leads to disaster and devastation.

‘Every year so many children have such fun at the walk and leave with an increased knowledge on how to stay away from drugs,’ said SANCA Zululand Director, Shireen Sahadev.

Registration will begin at 8.30am, with activities getting under way at 9am.

Bootcamp uMhlathuze will once again provide a fun warm-up routine to get everyone’s muscles tuned for the walk.

Prizes will go to the school with the most number of entries, and there will be numerous other prizes too.

So mark the date now on your calendar and keep an eye out for more information in the weeks to come.
