- Connie Harry

Richards Bay Primary School learner Jachin Naidoo is passionate about conserving the environment, performing arts, academics and sport.

This talented 11-year-old is a Land Service Club leader and maintains a heavy schedule of sketching, taking part in orator competitions, modelling, karate, public speaking and music.

This year Jachin secured his spot as a finalist in an orator’s competition, is a member of his school’s Spelling Bee team, attended a provincial land service camp in Mooi River and was a Con Spirito Eisteddfod winner for Bible reading.

Having won several karate medals at major tournaments, he achieved his South African colours and has been selected to represent SA at the karate

world championships in Germany next year.

He holds a brown belt in karate at ISKA uThungulu under the mentorship of Sensei Kobus Riekert.

On the performing arts front, he is a member of the school choir, models at Trelique Modelling Agency and is a student at Frik and Lorette Music School.

Jachin loves the outdoors, nature and takes an interest in wildlife.

His daily routine begins with prayer and he asks for wisdom and a spirit of excellence in everything he does.

While he gives priority to his academic work, he manages to balance all his activities and gives his best at all times.

His future goals are to obtain a black belt in karate by the age of 16 and one day open his own Dojo while studying to become a geologist.
