Versatile Nontokozo wants to go places
Grade 11 learner at Dover Combined Farm School, Nontokozo Ngcobo, believes the sky is the limit if one works hard at developing one’s talents.
The 18-year-old, who is graced with speed and overall athletics prowess, is an active participant in athletics, choral music and netball.
She regards herself as an all-rounder who knows how to juggle her heavy load of schoolwork and her extramural activities to stay on top of her game.
The Phathane-born Nontokozo plays at centre and wing attack for her school’s netball team, and also represents her home team, Hot Babes.
She was a member of the King Cetshwayo District netball
team that represented the district in Cape Town.
‘I think I was in Grade 3 when I realised my potential in sport, particularly netball. I still dream of playing for the South African netball team one day.
‘I also love music and singing and I’m a member of the Dover School choir that participated in the South African Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE). We scooped first position at the uMhlathuze circuit and also competed in the 2019 ABC Motsepe SASCE KZN music competition, where we were placed third.
‘Being active is my nature, but playing sport keeps my body fit and healthy. It also sharpens my mind. I see a bright future ahead of me,’ she said.
