Join the fight against cervical cancer

-

DR Jayeshnee Moodley Inc is holding its annual Pap smear drive, offering 100 free pap smear screenings to local women.

The drive will run on Fridays during August between noon and 4pm.

Cervical cancer remains a major health concern worldwide, especially in the developing world.

It is the most common gynaecological cancer, affecting one in 42 women.

With screening key to reducing cancer rates, local specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Moodley says women must empower themselves in the fight against cervical cancer.

‘Pap smear screening is the only tool we have available to diagnose precancer lesions and ensure appropriate and timeous care for these women.

‘Many women shy away from a pap smear because of the fear and embarrassment associated with the procedure. The more women we can help, the faster our community will learn about the importance of a Pap smear and the diagnosis of cervical cancer,’ Dr Moodley said.

The Pap smear drive will be held at Suite 107, Melomed Private Hospital.

Bookings are essential. Call 035 772 1581/ 035 7915418 or 076 153 3587 to confirm a booking.
