Bonsai ‘re-pot-a-thon’ fund-raiser in R/Bay

- Tamlyn Jolly

MEMBERS of the public are invited to join the Zululand Bonsai Society’s open day ‘repota-thon’ on 17 August.

Between 2pm and 4pm the society’s premises at 39 Krewelkring, Meerensee will be open to anyone who has a bonsai tree, but is not sure how to care for it, or anyone who simply wants to find out what the art of bonsai is all about.

The event is being held as a club fund-raiser and also to attract new members.

Meet the experts who will gladly re-pot your ailing bonsai to help give it a new lease on life.

Perhaps your tree has outgrown its existing pot and needs a new container, or it could do with some fresh bonsai soil. These and more will be on sale at the club’s bonsai shop on the day.

The society’s seasoned bonsai enthusiasts are aiming to re-pot a record number of trees in this, their inaugural repot-a-thon.

So don’t be shy, save the date on your calendar, bring all your bonsai trees for re-potting to keep the experts busy, and consider joining the Zululand Bonsai Society to learn more about this interesting past-time.

The society’s monthly meetings are of great value to bonsai enthusiasts of all levels, whether beginners or those with more knowledge, and, as a bonus, experts from around the region and country are at times brought in to deliver bonsai workshops.

For more information, contact the club’s treasurer, Ronnie Gericke, on 083 4272213.
