Zululanders bring huge relief to gogo Sigwaza
CARING Zululanders spread warmth and cheer to a disadvantaged pensioner last week.
They donated food items, clothing and blankets to gogo Nomusa Sigwaza and her 10 grandchildren in eSikhaleni.
This was an initiative of local businesswoman Nompumelelo Ndlela of Success Way Foundation, supported by the Zululand Observer’s charity arm, Do I Care Enough? (DICE).
‘Gogo Sigwaza lives with her 10 grandchildren in a small mud house and supports the household with only her pension grant. We decided to adopt the family to ensure we offer them better living conditions.
‘We are also in the process of building her a decent home and 20 bags of cement have already been donated towards the project by various businesses.’
The programme not only assists needy families with blankets, clothes and food during the winter months, but also supports those affected by the Covid-19 lockdown.
Last week DICE representative Karen Dalton donated blankets, mittens and booties to the programme.
‘We appreciate all the support and plead with locals and other businesses to also make a contribution to change people’s lives,’ Ndlela said.
