RBM appoints new Chief Financial Officer

RICHARDS Bay Minerals (RBM) has appointed Nosipho Shongwe as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Shongwe (38) of Ntombe Village near Piet Retief, is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with extensive knowledge in the finance sector.

She has held leadership positions over the past 16 years in sectors such as mining and metals, ICT, retail, logistics and equipment, financial services and in the auditing and accounting profession.

She is no stranger to the mining industry, as she previously served as the head of finance at De Beers’ Venetia mine in Limpopo.

‘Nosipho brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and financial acumen, having worked in a number of large companies in South Africa,

Australia and Zambia.

'We are confident that her expertise will help us navigate the next phase of our growth strategy,’ said RBM Managing Director, Werner Duvenhage.

Duvenhage said he is pleased that RBM has been able to add another woman to its senior leadership team.

'This highlights our ongoing efforts to advance women in the mining industry.'

He said her appointmen­t is part of the company’s efforts to ensure gender diversity, drive growth, and create greater value for employees, shareholde­rs and the mine's host communitie­s.

Shongwe replaces Bradley Reddy who has been appointed as General Manager for Growth and Strategy for RBM, where he will develop and execute critical future-focused projects for the organisati­on.
