BEING a wife and mother is a challenging task in itself, but being a businesswoman, a doctor’s wife and mother juggling family and work demands can be an even greater challenge.
But local community worker, Martha Blend Mishra (46), takes it all in her stride. And she believes every day is an opportunity of spreading kindness to others.
Born in Durban but now settled in Empangeni, Martha always had a dream of marrying a doctor and raising a family, as well as being part of a close community.
Her dreams came true when husband Ravi, a doctor from India, asked her hand in marriage after an online relationship of three years
After settling in Zululand, Martha started her own company supplying medical equipment to businesses and medical facilities.
‘My husband helps a lot in the business because he knows more than I do,’ says Martha. Not only is she a dedicated wife, mother to seven-yearold Abhigyan, and philanthropist, but an entrepreneur as well who is still growing her business.
‘Family is important to me and I try to establish true family values in my son.
‘I believe we all have a role to play in society and to support and build others.
‘We must be humble and spread love to
people,’ she says. Owing to her love for the community, Martha is not only part of the Empangeni Clinic board, also but assists
