Richards Bay Family Care faces serious cash crisis
WITH over 400 families registered with Richards Bay Family Care (RBFC) and utilising various services provided by the organisation, the NPO is appealing to the community for assistance to meet its monthly operational costs.
Struggling to keep RBFC afloat, the board chairperson, Rene Bekker said that despite efforts by the team to cut expenditure to the bare minimum, their operating expenses are well over
R25 000 per month, which is reliant on public support and donations.
'We are a non-profit organisation serving the Richards Bay area and in great need to meet our basic operating expenses such as rates, taxes, electricity, fuel, telephones, internet and general maintenance,' said Bekker.
'Providing services such as our social relief programme, adoption services, mediation and parenting plans, we are dependent on the local business community and individuals for support.'
With many families still recovering from the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and owing to the increased living expenses like fuel costs, food price increases, rentals and home loans, many parents end up providing for their basic necessities first and are left with little or nothing for groceries.
Many rely on the RBFC social relief
programme where families are issued with food parcels in their time of need. Unfortunately, however, RBFC's pantry has run dry and there are no grocery supplies.
'We rely purely on community support and funding to cover our expenses. 'We remain grateful to our communities for their ongoing support and assistance throughout these trying times,' said Bekker.
