Life sentences for healer after rape

A TRADITIONAL healer accused of raping a client was last week found guilty by the Ulundi Regional Court and sentenced to three life terms.

The convicted rapist, Sfiso Mngadi (40) of the Mahlabathini area, was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl on

12 December, 2018.

The court heard the victim was taken to Mngadi by her parents, who sought treatment for her.

Mngadi raped the girl and recorded it on his cell phone.

It was reported to the police last year after the victim’s aunt visited her niece at Mngadi’s residence.

The woman caught Mngadi watching the recording on his cell phone.

A rape case was registered at Mahlabathini SAPS, and the docket was transferred to Ulundi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.

The accused was placed under arrest and refused bail until his case was finalised.
