Daniella crowned Little Miss SA
YOUNG Zululand model, Daniella Burgess (12), has taken the first steps to possible stardom in the modelling world.
The energetic Felixton College Grade 7 pupil was crowned Little Miss South Africa 2021 at a prestigious crowning ceremony at the Sun International Hotel in Sandton last month.
The first model in KZN to claim the title, the Empangeni girl outshone the other hopefuls after being judged for not only on her deportment, but her remarkable community work and philanthropic efforts.
This achievement automatically qualifies her to take part in the prestigious World Champs of Pre Arts (WCOPA) pageant in Los Angeles next year.
'I'm extremely honoured to represent South Africa at the WCOPA. I want to thank Trelique Models International, my parents Michelle and Matthew, sister Gia, and my beloved family for believing in me,’ Daniella said.
Apart from flying the Zululand flag high on the international stage, her passion for underprivileged children and working with various local charitable projects sets her apart from many models.
Making an impact
Daniella has been making headlines since she was three years old.
In March she was crowned Miss Junior Teen KwaZulu-Natal 2021.
In 2017, she was nominated to represent SA in Tennessee after being crowned Mini Miss RSA Overall winner.
She also holds several other beauty titles, such as Tiny Miss St Lucia, Miss Tiny Golden Sands, Little Miss Durban Sparkling Beauty, Face of Umvoti, Face of North Coast as 1st princess and the Miss uShaka Kids World title.
Her passion for charity saw her becoming the co-founder of Earth Squad International, an organisation that gets people to work together to make an impact in other people’s lives.
‘No act of kindness is too small. If we can change one person’s life, we make a significant difference,' she says.
She also excels on the hockey field and is a member of the DSP Hockey Academy, and is a team-member of the King Cetshwayo U13 hockey and swimming teams.
