Mhlongo in a league of his own at golf event

MANDLENKOSI Mhlongo earned himself the 2021 Darkies Golf Club Championship title after a consistent performance during his 36-hole round at the Empangeni Country Club at the weekend.

He was in fine nick right off the tee-box on hole one on Saturday and carded a solid 18-hole round in the A division medal format.

He took his monster drives, solid short game and accurate putting form into Sunday's round, where he extended his overnight lead and ended with a gross of 151.

That was ten shots ahead of second-placed Sandile Mbuyazi, who carded 161.

All divisions (A, B and C) followed a medal format over 36 holes over the two days.

B division player, Richard Mngadi, earned the best nett with his 141.
