Mary-Anne Young Jordan Truck and bus drivers drive like hooligans at one hell of a speed on the John Ross Highway, not stopping at robots. The other day a truck missed me by centimetres because I stopped at the robot. He did not even slow down, and had to go sideways to miss me.

They should have installed speed bumps at that robot years ago as it’s a very dangerous intersection.

Nothing will ever help change these things unless people change their mentality. Yesterday at the ZCBF traffic lights I was almost killed by a bus driver who decided not to slow down or even stop at the red traffic light. He actually went on the ZCBF turning lane to cut around me. If I moved forward, he could have hit me, but fortunately he was so fast I never even had a second to react.

It’s sad that people do not stop at a robot that’s not working. I almost got hit as I stopped and the car behind me did not want to stop. Instead of the cops sitting under the bridge and looking pretty, they should hide in the bushes near these robots. How much more lives are going to be lost?

Another set of traffic lights not working.

That robot is an abattoir these days. The robot has not been working for quite some time. Accidents happen frequently there. Car remains, bumpers, broken windscreens are all over the place there. No traffic cop visibility. They only come on weekend afternoons to collect drinks from the drivers driving to and from eSikhaleni.
