Six Ulundi schools awarded for top matric performance
FOR its matric excellence and 100% pass rate in 2021, the James Nxumalo Agricultural School in Ulundi was rewarded handsomely by Ulundi Municipality.
During a municipal visit to the school on Monday, Ulundi Mayor Wilson Ntshangase handed over a R10 000 cheque to school officials.
Ntshangase believes the discipline among learners was the main ingredient that helped them achieve such wonderful results.
‘This school is among six high schools that obtained a 100% pass rate. Our municipality has awarded each school with a R10 000 cheque. This is our first visit, and next we will go to Komvoor High School to hand over theirs,' he said.
‘I commend the school's management on this achievement. I have noted a high level of discipline among the learners. This gives us the impression that today’s celebration was the result of discipline, and a strong culture of teaching and learning at this school.
‘We believe this year’s learners will match the current results and all pass their exams with bachelors,’ Ntshangase said.
Grade 12 learner Zande Simelane was grateful for the donation, and said she was hoping it would make a huge difference in acquiring study materials.
‘I promise our mayor that we will make him proud, and we will do our best to double what our predecessors obtained during their exams,' she said.
Ulundi municipal manager Nkosenye Zulu said his municipality was proud of all the schools that excelled in the 2021 matric exams.
‘We appreciate the good working relationship between us and local schools, and the local Department of Education,’ said Zulu.
