IKUSASALETHU Women’s Club gathered at Ngwelezana community hall on Sunday to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

The event was attended by community leaders and hundreds of women affiliated with the organisation, including founder Thandi Mhlongo.

While the aim was to honour their 40th year of existence and their remarkable work in the community, the organisation also took the opportunity to launch and elect a committee for their new branch in Ngwelezana and surrounding communities.

Nothanda Ziqubu was elected president and Thoko Myeza deputy.

The event was capped with song, dance and performances by a traditional Zulu dance group.

The organisation celebrated Women’s Month with a visit to Ophaphasi in Nongoma where they hosted hundreds of their members for a special handover ceremony of houses and groceries.
