Nothando is queen of the netball court
HOPING to finally play for the SA netball team is Richem Secondary School pupil Nothando Nkomonde who has a passion for the sport.
The Grade 11 learner has represented her school and has also played for the King Cetshwayo District Municipality netball team.
She toured with the team to Mpumalanga where she played for the U19 side, and to the North West where she played for the senior district squad.
Nothando has been playing netball for six years. Her passion for the sport developed at an early age when she began playing for her youth netball team at church.
After that, Nothando took her talent seriously and joined the school team.
"Netball makes me feel happy; I forget about my stresses and challenges," she said.
"The sport also helps me deal with teenage peer pressure issues."
Nothando says she is also able to focus better at school as the sport keeps her motivated in achieving her goals and doing her best at all times.
Her role model is Nomfundo Mngomezulu who plays for the South African netball team.
