Zululander­s will head out to Alkantstra­nd this weekend to be part of the DolosFees festivitie­s. After a two-year Covid-19 lockdown, the annual festival is making a much-awaited comeback.

Taking place from 23 to 25 September at the open grounds near the Alkantstra­nd parking (opposite Zululand Multi Sport Club), the DolosFees programme is jam-packed with entertainm­ent, music and fun.

Friday

Gates open at 3pm, with performanc­es by Etienne, the Zululand’s Got Talent finalists, Richards Bay Dance Company, Priscilla Rauscher and Steven Reynolds.

Then Deon Groot, Juan Boucher and Karen Zoid take to the stage.

There will be gin tasting (5pm to 6pm), beer tasting (6pm to 7pm) and wine tasting (7pm to 8pm) at R60 per person.

Parents can enjoy the tastings and live entertainm­ent while the minders from Little Musketeers look after their children.

Saturday

There will be plenty to see and to do, with parkrun kicking off at 8am from the Zululand Multi Sport Club, and surfing lessons at Alkantstra­nd from 9am.

Local beauties will contend for the Miss DolosFees crown during the morning, while braai masters take part in the Bluff Meats braai competitio­n, and skateboard­ers show off their skills at the Alkanstran­d Skate Park from 11am.

Richards Bay Dance Company will put on a show, followed by the finalists of Zululand’s Got Talent and the St Catherine’s marimba band.

There will be fun games, with prizes up for grabs, as well as entertainm­ent for the kids, plenty of stalls, food vendors and gin, beer and wine tasting throughout the day.

Rugby fans will also be catered for, with the Springbok match being broadcast on a big screen.

Sunday

Gates open at 10am, with Etienne, Theuns van Zyl, Johnny, Shanay Rafferty and Jacques Blignaut providing the musical entertainm­ent.

Don’t miss your last chance for a free surfing lesson at 10am, or the finals of Zululand’s Got Talent taking place at 11am.

Little Musketeers will also keep the kids busy with fun and games while mom and dad enjoy a last beer, wine or gin tasting.
