Spending on repairs and maintenance praised
THE City of uMhlathuze came out shining, taking home top prizes at the 2022 KZN Municipal Excellence Awards held in Durban on Wednesday.
“Dedication to service delivery, transparency, and hard work are some of the factors that contributed to the City of uMhlathuze winning majority awards,” said Mayor Xolani Ngwezi.
He went on to challenge all City of uMhlathuze staff to serve the people with diligence, and to maintain a clean record of financial management.
The municipality won a gold trophy and a certificate for Clean Audit Opinions for the 2020/21 financial year.
They won a second gold trophy and R500 000 for the O&M category (Allocation and Spending on Repairs and Maintenance), and a third gold trophy and certificate for obtaining positive audit outcomes for financial and non-financial performance at a district level.
The city was also awarded gold for the best developed Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
